چکیده

Keeping in view the declining soil fertility and people’s nutritional issues, a research experiment on potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) was carried out Belg (February to May) Meher (June October) seasons of 2020 at Abelo Masha district, southwestern Ethiopia, gauge effects blended mineral NPSB fertilizer, cattle manure (CM), vermicompost (VC) NP growth, biomass tuber quality. The fertilizer treatments consisted 7.5 t CM ha-1 + 75 50% recommended dose fertilizers (RDF), VC 75, 50 25% NP, 5 75% 100 kg 61.5 P 146 N ha-1, 150 53.7 138 200 46 128 100% (165 60 ha-1) one no-fertilizer treatment (control) making total 11 treatments. indicated that application significantly increased plant height, dry shoot root yields, specific gravity, soluble solids starch. On other hand, highest crude protein content recorded ha-1. It summarized use (124 45 improved quality fetching high economic return over sole either 200% or 150% no-application study area. In light present findings, there is need extend these studies using multiple combination ratios with different soils varied agro-climatic zones come up conclusive recommendations.

Potato yield and tuber quality as affected by gibberellic acid and zinc sulfate

Abstract Obtaining high potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) tuber yield through increased number and weight of quality tubers is important for farmers while the quality factors are of interest for food processing industries. Potato processing industries require high quality tubers having the highest possible dry matter, starch and protein contents. A two-year field study was carried out as a factoria...

Effect of integrated use of cattle manure and inorganic fertilizers on tuber yield of potato in Ethiopia

A field experiment was conducted to assess the effect of farmyard (cattle) manure (FYM) and inorganic nitrogen (N) phosphorus (P) fertilizers on growth and tuber yield of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.). The treatments consisted of factorial combination of 4 levels of FYM (0. 10, 20 and 30 t h-1) and three levels of inorganic NP fertilizers (0, 33.3%, 66.6% recommended rates) laid out in a Random...
